It's the LAST DAY before all the madness begins.

February. I love it. I hate it.

Reason to love February: My birthday happens which means I'll get to have a rockin' birthday party with lots of pink streamers and a cake and friends and laughs and love.

Reason to hate February: Valentine's day. It's the most miserable holiday ever when you are a BYU student. There is WAY to much lovin' in the air. You could almost choke on it. And it leaves me feeling a little backed into a corner.


I mean, it's stupid enough when you have some special someone with you to go out to dinner with or cuddle up and watch a movie with or surprise with a box of chocolate kisses and 100 reasons that you love them, etc. Why do we need to have a special day to tell someone I love you, shouldn't we be doing that every day? But I digress, it's even more stupid when you know you'll end up barricading yourself in your apartment with a half-gallon of Ben and Jerry's and "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days."

Rant over, I hope that you each have a very special Valentine's Day. As for me and my apartment, we'll be hunkered down avoiding the love sick puppies endangering the greater Provo/Orem/Salt Lake area.

    Awww it's okay... I hate valentine's day too! The day makes me baby barf a little bit.

    If it weren't for my kids - at least when they were little - I would hate Valentine's Day too. Actually, I think a LOT of people feel that way, BYU or no BYU! My very most favorite Valentine's are STILL from my kids when they were much younger and would make such precious things expressing their love for me :)

    I know there comes a time when it's about the person you are in love with, but time changes a lot of things. To me Valentine's Day is the day I make sure to express my love to everyone. I do little things for my friends more than anything - and vice versa. Cards, treats, movies....... whatever! And how can I not love a month when I can overdose on HEARTS and PINK!

    So don't worry my dear, barricade yourself if you want to, but guy or no guy, make Valentine's Day a day full of love and one that you ENJOY :)
