My parents think they are so clever, that I could never "pull the wool over their eyes." But oh how I have got them fooled. They think that I come home for family, to catch up with all my loved ones back in good ol' Texas, and to a point... I guess it's true. Yet there is one thing that calls my name all semester long...I can hear it creeping it's away across the swampy marshes of South Texas, up through the desert plains of central Texas, through the pan handle, and straight on to Provo: Blue Bell. Ice Cream. For those of you who have never had the joy of experiencing Blue Bell Ice Cream, I send my most heart felt condolences. Fresh gelato is the only thing that surpasses my love for this wonderful iced treat made right up the road in Brenham, Texas. It is divine.
Nothing compares and it is this sweet treat that I look forward to eating most when I actually make it back home to Texas. But my marvelous family, also has marvelous taste in ice cream as well. It runs in the genes--we like food. Especially good food, so you have to be quick at the Wilkinson house and get a bowl because it's gone in a blink! "Snooze you lose" is often the motto of our kitchen when it comes to all things sweet. It makes for a good time. Definitely.
Aside from the ice cream, I also enjoyed a little pool time which ended up being way too much pool time and a fabulous tan! That lasted a total of two hours before I went red all over! Shaaazaaaaaaaam! Why?! So often I underestimate the power of the sun in the MIDDLE of the afternoon. I always forget that my olive skin isn't always enough to protect me from those fabulous rays. Shoot. Sunblock from now on. I'm not the "bee's knees" I usually am when it comes to tanning without sunblock. I got greedy and overshot my max big time. Oh well! Hopefully it will cool off and I won't peel like a snake. YUCK!
All My Love! Six days until I am off to Haiti! The real packing starts tomorrow. Can't wait!
Song of the day is Rockin' Robin by the Jackson Five. That one and Black or White by MJ. It was all things Jackson tonight when my mom and I were making dinner. My sneaky father even caught us dancing like crazy people on his cell phone! That man is evil. Black Mail is not legal, I will have you know. :-) And no, I will not be posting the video, so don't even ask. No, no begging. It's not going to happen. End. Of. Discussion.
<3, <3, <3.
Well. That's just completely and totally unfair because I can't have ice cream. So that was cruel and unusual punishment. And then to bring up olive skin was a double whammy. But I'm glad you had a good time because I have to admit you deserved it. And I love the Jackson 5 - the Mouse will be particularly happy because he loves Rockin' Robin. But you know what I'm gonna ask. POST THE VIDEO!!!

Megan!!! You can't have ice cream?!! What the! This is tragic indeed. Actually, I'm not supposed to have milk products, so I don't drink milk and cheat on the ice cream. I just love it too much to give it up completely. The Jackson 5 are FAB! Absolutely love them, and Rockin' Robin is probabaly one of my favorite songs of all time. The Mouse has excellent taste. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I just can't do it. I would have to walk around with a paper bag over my head for the rest of my life and then some. ;-)
