First day of school, attack of the clones, and other fun little things.

Like my shirt? I went on a mall adventure, most of which was just torture, with my darling sister Kendra and mom Karen today. I bought this shirt for a whole 7.00 from the Gap. Yes, 7.00 dollars from the Gap. You read that correctly. No need to squint your eyes or reread the sentence. :-)

I've decided that it's going to be my first-day-of-school t-shirt. I am very excited. Isn't that ridiculous, I am actually already looking forward to the first day of school!I've loved the first day of school my whole life, and it always merits a new outfit! Always. I'm not even going to wear it before the first day of school. I just love everything about it--the first day of school. Sifting through the used books for ones that were owned by students that gave the class up or at least the reading, sharpened pencils (which mean way more than just the first day of school), the buzz in the air, the new apartment, the new and sometimes the familiar professors. I love it all. It's amazing. Of course it doesn't take much more than a week for reality to set in and school to become insanely stressful and then I don't even think about what I am wearing anymore. But I have a special feeling about this semester--I'm not sure what, but something is different. And I'm excited.

So, at the mall today, I noticed something. All the girls look the same. And I'm not sure if it's something in the soft pretzels at the food court or if their brains are all in jars somewhere, but they all wear the same clothes, have the same hair color AND cut. They talk the same, walk the same, and well... you get the point. As I walked through the mall today, I was suddenly very grateful for a mother that nurtured my individuality and that of my siblings. Just whatever you do, no sudden movements when you're at the mall. I can see it all now: Attach of the Clones!!!

They may look sweet, but be careful. We don't know who has their brains in jars. No. Sudden. Moves.

Also a fun tidbit from my day, this evening the whole family was helping to do some chores around the house, and we could NOT decide on music for the love of all that is holy. It was so frustrating but then the magic happened... MJ was the answer we had all been looking for. So, in honor of that Thriller is the song of the day. I wish I could have videoed Sterling's dance moves for you all. It was so cute!

All my love!

  3. John- yes! You should get a new back to school t-shirt too! And we should definitely be study budies. I love that idea.

Megan- Thanks, I love the t-shrit too. The rhino is so random on the front and green is regularly my favorite color (I have a few and they rotate every few weeks). I love fall. It's so exciting.
